This book deals with the local history of Bordesholm from the first traces of human life in the current municipal territory to the present. A group of five expert regional historians explores this history on the basis of an intensive investigation of primary sources in conjunction with the latest research. The result is a volume written in accessible language that offers many surprising new insights. It can now be stated with certainty, for example, that the long-standing consensus which has seen 1327 celebrated and memorialised as Bordesholm's medieval birthdate can no longer stand up to critical scrutiny. The new local history entitled 'Bordesholm in der Geschichte' is published under the editorship of the renowned Kiel regional historian Oliver Auge as volume seven of the scholarly series 'Nordelbische Ortsgeschichten'.
