Beschreibung
The Ernst Wasmuth publishing house, which was founded in Berlin in 1872 and has been continued as Wasmuth & Zohlen Verlag since 2019, is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2022. To mark this occasion, an extraordinary publishing history is published that no other publishing house has to offer. Since in SOEBEN ERSCHIENEN [just released] the development of the publishing house is documented on the basis of the advertisements that it published from 1872 to 1943 for its new releases in the book trade journal Börsenblatt für den Deutschen Buchhandel. The book production advertised here ranges from early portfolios to classics of modern architectural literature and important magazines to a new type of photo books. The advertisements contain not only bibliographic information, but also insightful statements about the content of the books, which at the same time make them historical documents. The volume rounds off a compact presentation of the 150-year history of the Ernst Wasmuth publishing house.
