Hryhoriy Fyodorovych Kvitka-Osnovyanenko is a Ukrainian novelist, playwright, journalist, literary critic and cultural and social activist. The founder of artistic prose and the genre of social comedy in classical Ukrainian literature.
The writer's works affirmed the high moral and ethical qualities of a person from the people, played a significant role in the development of the Ukrainian language. As a writer, publisher, literary critic and publicist, he defended the artistic possibilities of the Ukrainian literary language.
