The international community recognises the need to reduce the worlds greenhouse gas emissions by half by 2050 in order to limit an increase in atmospheric temperature up to two degrees centigrade. In Asia, where economic growth is rapid and continuous, it is necessary to create a sustainable and low-carbon society, while promoting significant reductions of emissions. This book aims to introduce tools and methodology to explore a low carbon development path for a country. It presents an example of developing a low carbon society in Vietnam covering energy, and agriculture, forestry and land use sectors.

Dr. Nguyen Thai Hoa obtained PhD degree from Kyoto University. She specializes in low carbon development, and possesses a strong environmental engineering background for understanding climate change mitigation and other environmental related issues.
