Progress of biotechnology has influenced every single aspect of life science research. Application of biotechnology in sericulture has become a buzzword in the sericulture field. This needs to be swiftly implemented in sericulture field. India being agro based country and sericulture due to its labor intensive nature has been useful in providing employment to large rural masses. Though India is the second largest silk producer in the world, Still Indian silk has not been able to meet the demands of international market, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Apart from this silkworms in India have not been exploited to its full potential as ideal laboratory tool for biotechnological studies. Due to short life span ease in growing tropical climate, Biotechnology identifies silkworm for biotechnology related studies. Toward this end, Biotechnological applications in sericulture provides an in depth review and collection of chapters on use of biotechnological tools in sericulture. It has 21 chapters written by prominent researchers in their chosen field of specialization with respect to biotechnological applications in sericulture. This book contains an in depth information of techniques which can be employed for overall sericulture improvement.
