Beschreibung

The book represents the analysis of existing literature in relation to contextual vulnerabilities affecting childhood under-nutrition and morbidities in India with special reference to one vulnerable area of West Bengal. It is an example for research students to guide themselves how a masters/ M. Phil/ PhD dissertation or thesis should look like. It supplies ample evidence on co-vulnerabilities therefore is helpful for students in Development Economics. It is useful for researchers to conduct further research exploring how to reduce patterns of co-vulnerabilities affecting childhood under-nutrition and morbidities in India. It is helpful to design course modules of Development Economics for Academia. Implementing social enterprises will be benefited through detail understanding of contextual vulnerabilities in underdeveloped regions. Policy makers may use it as reference to assess the vulnerability with respect to childhood under-nutrition and morbidities in India and the Sundarbans delta region of West Bengal. Poverty trajectory or the history of its pattern reflects a clear nexus with different risks and vulnerabilities preceding as well as following it. Literatures developed the concepts of poverty and vulnerability - both from broader as well as narrower perspectives. Multiple concepts of poverty and ever increasing multidimensional issues gradually developed the concept of vulnerability thinking deeper into poverty in dynamic sense through probabilistic lens. Though a large number of literatures are available on vulnerability to poor health, poverty, climate change, disaster and so on in isolated manner; multidimensional vulnerability calls for attention followed by action. This Book provides a clear understanding about all the issue supported by empirical evidence.
