Beschreibung

Plato (between 429 and 427 BC - 347 BC) - the largest thinker in human history, ancient Greek philosopher, student of Socrates and teacher of Aristotle. Plato is the first philosopher whose writings are not preserved in short passages quoted by others, but in full. The Platonic Corpus (Corpus Platonicum) - that is, a historically formed set of works that have been associated with the name of Plato since antiquity and a significant part of which are dialogues - has been formed over time. The philosophy of Plato is not presented systematically in his works, which seem to the modern researcher rather as an extensive laboratory of thought; Plato's system has to be reconstructed. Its most important part is the doctrine of three basic ontological substances (triad): "one", "mind" and "soul"; the doctrine of "space" is adjacent to it. For Plato, the main science that determines all others is dialectics - the method of dividing the one into many, reducing the many to a single and structural representation of the whole as a single multiplicity. The historical significance of Plato's philosophy is determined by the fact that he consistently thought out the basic principles of objective idealism. Plato's ideas served as the original foundation of the centuries-old tradition of Platonism and Neoplatonism. Illustrations by Dmitry Rybalko Content: 1. State; 2. Laws; 3. Politician; 4. Sophist; 5.
