As it is the case in other developing countries, Tanzania has witnessed mushrooming of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) involved in provision and/or support of various social services including basic education. In addition, a significant number of CSOs have been advocating the concept of stakeholders'' participation in various development initiatives. However, the questions to ask are; how effective are these CSOs? How effective is the concept of stakeholders'' participation in project management? This book gives responses to these questions with reference to experiences of two NGOs involved in a study. Proper project management especially in important sectors like basic education is becoming inevitable bearing in mind the massive amount and complexity of the knowledge that exists nowadays.
