) in Schleswig-Holstein escalated from tax-strikes to bombings and the rejection of the Weimar Republic. This history sheds light on the fall of Weimar democracy, the dramatic rise of National Socialism in the countryside and its breakthrough as a mass political party.

Alexander Otto-Morris studied German and History at Monash University in Melbourne (Australia), and at the universities of Würzburg and Kiel (Germany). He is an adjunct research associate at Monash University and currently teaches in northern Germany.
