This systematic presentation of German juvenile criminal law is intended for law students and all those working in the administration of juvenile criminal law. The textbook deals particularly with the criminological and criminal-policy contexts, knowledge of which in juvenile criminal law is indispensable for understanding the legal regulations and their practical application. The discussion takes into account the extensive new legal regulations implemented in December 2019 in the ?Act Revising the Law on Justifiable Self-Defence= and the ?Act on Reinforcing the Procedural Rights of Accused Individuals in Juvenile Criminal Law=.

Prof. Werner Beulke formerly taught criminal law, criminal procedure and criminology at the University of Passau. Since 2011 he has been working as a criminal defence lawyer in Passau and continues to teach juvenile criminal law as a specialist subject for trainee lawyers. Prof. Sabine Swoboda teaches criminal law, criminal procedural law and international criminal law at the Ruhr University in Bochum.
