This reader focuses on European and International Railway Transport Law and is born from Dr. Erik Evtimov's lecture at the University of Berne/Switzerland, held since 2010.
Existing international railway transport law is tackled in a very comprehensive manner based on presentations and supportive texts and commentaries within the framework of the Convention Concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF), the Agreement on International Goods Transport by Rail (SMGS) and the interdependencies with Europe- an law on railway interoperability. The Swiss national law on rail freight traffic will also be dealt with. The existing international, European and national rules are examined for the main purpose of understanding the new role of railways in the expanding global supply chain of goods and services in the 21st Century.
The book is of interest to students as well as to practitioners with a special interest in transport law and logistics.
