After surrendering to the Red Army in 1945, Irma sets out on a trail of self-preservation, falsehoods her only defence. While waiting for Russian justice a Colonel takes an interest in the young woman, first despatching her on a hellish journey to a Siberian Gulag, before conversely saving her from the gallows and taking her under his wing.
