Ivan Yakovych Franko is an outstanding Ukrainian poet, novelist, playwright, literary critic, publicist, translator, scientist, public and political figure.
During his more than 40 years of creative activity, Franko worked extremely fruitfully as an original writer (poet, novelist, playwright) and translator, literary critic and publicist, a multifaceted scientist - literary, language, translation and art critic, ethnologist and folklorist, historian, sociologist, political scientist, economist, philosopher. His creative output, written in Ukrainian (most of the texts), Polish, German, Russian, Bulgarian, and Czech languages, according to approximate estimates, includes several thousand works with a total volume of more than 100 volumes. In total, during Frank's lifetime there were more than 220 separate books and pamphlets, including more than 60 collections of his original and translated works of various genres. He was one of the first professional Ukrainian writers, that is, he earned his living by literary work.
