'The Lost Dahlia' is a short essay written by Mary Russell Mitford. She was an English author and dramatist, best known for 'Our Village', a series of sketches of village scenes and vividly drawn characters based upon her life in Three Mile Cross near Reading in Berkshire. This essay is a lamentation of losing a dahlia in her garden that she named Phoebus.
