The protagonist of the novel, a talented scientist and physicist Griffin, creates the apparatus. The apparatus changes the index of breaking of the substances of the human body and in fact makes the human fully invisible. Having fully concentrated on work, Griffin at all forgets about such common things as finances, payments for food and apartment. Now he is the owner of the invention of genius. At once he is a full bankrupt, who will be very soon thrown to the street. This very fact makes the young scientist make a mad thing - he becomes invisible himself.
